Blood and Organ Donor Campaign
Brief: Create a poster campaign targeted at students (sixth form and university) and young adults to encourage them to give blood regularly, and consider signing up for organ or cadaver donation in the event of their death. The campaign should take a different approach to existing promotions run by the NHS.
Solution: The campaign was created on behalf on a fictional, national, student-run and targeted group whose aim is to raise awareness about social issues. For this purpose, I created STAN (Students Taking Action Nationwide), which was expanded upon in other promotional materials (including keyrings, postcards and bookmarks) also designed and made for this campaign. The copy plays largely on sexual innuendo and puns with phrases that might catch the viewer's attention, while actually referencing the mode and function of the National Blood Service and Organ Donor Register.
This was a self-negotiated brief I undertook for my Art and Design Foundation Course. I feel very strongly about the two causes, and if you're not already a participant in one or both of them, please consider signing up to the Organ Donor Register and/or finding out if and when you could give blood locally.
